Umberto Koso Lodigiani was born in Naples in 1982, he began writing with sprays at the age of 14 in 1996 and make the firsts official graffiti the year after in 1997.
Started as a train-bomber writer inspired by American roots over time he refined his painting technique and his artistic language devoting himself completely to the style of his own creations : graffiti, artwork, characters, letters on the full facades of buildings, canvases and walls legally authorized.
His writing-style goes from compact backgrounds to almost vectorial shades it received a strong artistic influence both by the experience of the “L.A. Gold Rush “in Los Angeles and by the” Meeting of Styles “in New York, and the” Five Points “mecca of international graffiti, where he was able to meet the best American and European writers who came for the event.
To date, he creates individual or collective artwork and graffiti on walls of every dimensions by participating in all kinds of artistic events in Europe and abroad, surpassing the target of 100 graffiti in one year for several years.
He paint on canvas for various galleries in solo or group exhibitions and produces serigraphs and prints of his works.
His artworks are inspired by graffiti, metropolitan art, the environment that surrounds him, ” Pop ”, “Post-graffiti”, futurism and contemporary art but also by everything he researches and studies.
U.K.L. aims to transfer its works from the wall to the canvas, combining the concept of public art with private creations.
His artistic language is made up of simple subjects and patterns that coexist with each other in a very personal chromatic balance, albeit easy to read, sometimes combined with reinterpretations of classic and cartoon icons.
The underground aura of the street where he paints is transmitted to the canvas, maintaining a classic vein and a personal gesture while living a condition of continuous experimentation.
To date he has participated in various exhibitions including: the 55th Venice Biennale as part of the “Back 2 Back to Biennale” project, 2 editions of ”Art and Fashion take shape” at the Galleria Borbonica in Naples curated by Valeria Viscione and Visivo Comunicazione, a collective exhibition at the PAN in Naples, the collective ”Magma ” at the Casina Vanvitelliana for Stradedarts, a personal exhibition at the V&V al Vomero curated by Valeria Viscione entitled ”translate ” and the personal exhibition at Ischia Street Art Gallery entitled “Brush’s Dreams” curated by Salvatore Iacono, an international collective at the Spaklers gallery in Amsterdam and participated in a virtual gallery project at Hiya Gallery in Paris.
Furthermore, during the period of Covid 19 he participated in a group exhibition organized by the Indonesian association Never Show Before at their headquarters in Jakarta.
During his artistic career he also dedicates himself to the customization of products, decorations of environments and live performances. His works include on the one hand spontaneous realizations without execution restrictions as well as public and private commissions with specific directives. U.K.L. collaborates with some prestigious brands such as: Tim, Osama, Ceres, Lavazza, Eastpak, Converse, Camel, Adidas, Vans, Reebok, Vodafone, Aperol, Thames & Hudson and RedBull.
He promotes and implements projects related to hip hop culture and teaches the history and technique of spray art in schools and in the offices of associations that deal with minors at risk and in juvenile prisons.
He is a founding member of the Bereshit Association, the first ACU (Association for urban creativity) in Campania, with which he has organized international graffiti events since 1999, the latest of which is ” BACK TO THE STYLE ”.

Umberto Koso Lodigiani nasce a Napoli nel 1982, inizia a scrivere con gli spray all’età di 14 anni nel 1996 ma i graffiti veri e propri risalgono al 1997.
Inizialmente bomber e writer da treno e ispirato dalle radici americane con il passare del tempo affina la sua tecnica pittorica e il suo linguaggio artistico cominciando a dedicarsi completamente alla realizzazione di graffiti e artwork, personaggi e lettere su facciate di palazzi, tele e muri legalmente autorizzati.
Il suo stile nel writing dalla campiture compatte alle sfumature quasi vettoriali ha avuto una forte influenza artistica sia dall’ esperienza della “L.A. Gold Rush” a Los Angeles che dal “Meeting of Styles” di New York, presso i “Five Points” mecca dei graffiti internazionali, dove ha potuto confrontarsi con i migliori writers americani ed europei giunti per l’occasione.
Ad oggi realizza artwork e graffiti individuali e collettivi su muri e grandi superfici partecipando a jam ed eventi in Europa e all’estero, superando per diversi anni l’obbiettivo di 100 graffiti in un anno.
Dipinge su tela, che espone in varie galleria in mostre personali o collettive e produce serigrafie e stampe delle sue opere.
I suoi artwork sono ispirati dai graffiti, dall’arte metropolitana, dall’ambiente che lo circonda, dal ‘’Pop’’, dal “Post-graffitismo”, dal futurismo e dall’arte contemporanea ma anche da tutto ciò che ricerca e studia.
U.K.L. si pone l’ obbiettivo di trasferire dal muro alla tela i propri elaborati, accostando al concetto di arte pubblica, realizzazioni private.
Il suo linguaggio artistico è costituito da soggetti semplici e pattern che convivono tra loro in un equilibrio cromatico molto personale seppur di facile lettura ottica talvolta accostato a rivisitazioni di icone classiche e fumettistiche.
L’aura underground della strada dove dipinge si trasmette alla tela, mantenendo un filone classico e una gestualità personale pur vivendo una condizione di sperimentazione continua.
Ad oggi ha partecipato a diverse mostre tra le quali: la 55ª Biennale di Venezia all’interno del progetto ”Back 2 Back to Biennale”, 2 edizioni di ‘’Arte e Moda prendono forma’’ presso la Galleria Borbonica di Napoli curata da Valeria Viscione e Visivo Comunicazione, una mostra collettiva presso il P.A.N. di Napoli, la collettiva ‘’Magma’’ presso la casina Vanvitelliana per Stradedarts , una personale presso il V&V al Vomero curata da Valeria Viscione dal titolo ‘’translate’’e la personale presso Ischia Street Art Gallery dal titolo “Brush’s Dreams” curata da Salvatore Iacono, una collettiva internazionale presso la galleria Spaklers in Amsterdam e partecipato ad un progetto di galleria virtuale presso Hiya Gallery a Parigi.
Inoltre durante il periodo del Covid 19 ha partecipato ad una mostra collettiva organizzata dall’associazione indonesiana Never Show Before presso la loro sede di Jakarta.
Nel corso della sua carriera artistica si dedica inoltre alla customizzazione di prodotti, decorazioni di ambienti e performance live.
I suoi lavori comprendono da un lato realizzazioni spontanee senza vincoli di esecuzione quanto commissioni pubbliche e private con direttive specifiche.
U.K.L. collabora con alcuni brand prestigiosi come: Tim, Osama, Ceres, Lavazza, Eastpak, Converse, Camel, Adidas, Vans ,Reebok, Vodafone, Aperol, Thames&Hudson e RedBull.
Promuove e realizza progetti legati alla cultura hip hop e insegna la storia e la tecnica della spray art nelle scuole e nelle sedi delle associazioni che si occupano di minori a rischio e nelle carceri minorili.
E’ socio fondatore dell’Associazione Bereshit, la prima ACU (Associazione per la creativita’ urbana) campana, con la quale dal 1999 organizza eventi internazionali di graffiti, ultimo dei quali il ‘’BACK TO THE STYLE’’.
